Finite temperature effects on the neutrino decoupling in the early Universe

چکیده
Leading finite temperature effects on the neutrino decoupling temperature in the early Universe have been studied. We have incorporated modifications of the dispersion relation and the phase space distribution due to the presence of particles in the heat bath at temperature around MeV. Since both the expansion rate of the Universe and the interaction rate of a neutrino are reduced by finite temperature effects, it is necessary to calculate thermal corrections as precisely as possible in order to find the net effect on the neutrino decoupling temperature. We have performed such a calculation by using the finite temperature field theory. It has been shown that the finite temperature effects increase the neutrino decoupling temperature by 4.4%, the largest contribution coming from the modification of the phase space due to the thermal bath. 95.30.Cq, 95.30.Tg, 11.10.Wx Typeset using REVTEX ∗E-mail: [email protected], [email protected] †E-mail: [email protected] ‡E-mail: [email protected]

متن کاملMassive neutrinos and magnetic fields in the early universe
Primordial magnetic fields and massive neutrinos can leave an interesting signal in the CMB temperature and polarization. We perform a systematic analysis of general perturbations in the radiation-dominated universe, accounting for any primordial magnetic field and including leading-order effects of the neutrino mass. We show that massive neutrinos qualitatively change the large-scale perturbat...

If the gravitino is sufficiently light and stable it will behave as an effective massless neutrino species at the time of nucleosynthesis. Depending on the temperature at which it decouples from the thermal bath in the early universe, the gravitino mass will be bounded by the primordial 4He abundance. Assuming a conservative estimate that the number of neutrino families, Nν < 3.6, superlight gr...
متن کاملPrecision Prediction for the Big - Bang Abundance of Primordial 4 He
Within the standard models of particle physics and cosmology we have calculated the big-bang prediction for the primordial abundance of 4He to a theoretical uncertainty of less than 0.1% (δYP < ±0.0002), improving the current theoretical precision by a factor of 10. At this accuracy the uncertainty in the abundance is dominated by the experimental uncertainty in the neutron mean lifetime, τn = ...
متن کاملRelic neutrino decoupling including flavour oscillations
In the early universe, neutrinos are slightly coupled when electron-positron pairs annihilate transferring their entropy to photons. This process originates non-thermal distortions on the neutrino spectra which depend on neutrino flavour, larger for νe than for νμ or ντ . We study the effect of three-neutrino flavour oscillations on the process of neutrino decoupling by solving the momentum-dep...
